Farming for the Future
Paddock-scale trials for innovative pastures & farm practices
WICC has secured funding to support farmers to trial new & improved pasture crops & fodder shrubs under our local conditions. Pasture trials will be planted in the 2027 growing season. 10 farmers wanting to trial new species, pasture mixes or cropping styles can receive:
- Seed allowance for 5 ha pasture
- Seeding allowance (contribution towards cost of seeding contractor)
- Agronomic support – advice on weed control, fertilizer planning, pasture establishment, interpretation of soil and plant tissue test results and troubleshooting.
- Fodder/feed testing to compare the nutritional value of your innovative paddock’s produce to a standard “business as usual” hay or silage crop.
- Locally suitable fodder shrubs/trees.
Farmers outside the Wilson Inlet catchment are also eligible & welcome to apply.
